Preliminary Itinerary

Below is our itinerary for the course in Argentina. Please remember that many factors may affect the schedule, so know that it is subject to change. (With the exception, of course, of our plane and bus travel. Those dates are set).

Meals:
Breakfasts: Contintental breakfast is included at both the hotel in Santa Fe and at the hostel in Buenos Aires.

Lunches and dinners: Included in your program fee are 19 meals (13 dinners plus 6 group meals - lunch or dinner). You will need to bring money to cover the additional meals. We will be in Argentina for 20 days, which equals 20 lunches and 20 dinners. 19 of these are included, which means that you will pay for 21 meals. We estimate that the average cost of a meal is $10. We think that is a comfortable estimate. So you should bring anywhere from $210 to $250 for food.

Welcome to the J-Term Course in Argentina!

Bienvenidos:

This blog is for students in the 2009 Gustavus Adolphus travel course to Argentina: Argentinean Culture and Identity.  We are very excited to be leading this trip to Professor Kalbermatten's hometown of Santa Fé and to Professor Hanway's favorite city,  Buenos Aires.

With this blog you will be able to check on our schedule in Argentina, see what we will be doing on any particular day, and find information on how to download readings you will need for Argentina.  This information will be posted after fall semester ends.   As our leaving day approaches, we will be adding advice on what to expect, what to pack, and how to prepare for the course.

Please give your parents and friends the address of this blog, if you like, so that they, too, can keep track of what you are doing once we are in Argentina.

If you or your parents have questions about flights, insurance, or payment, please contact Linda Shaw in International Education (lshaw@gac.edu) as she has the information you will need.

Remember that you need to be on campus on January 5th, as we will be having class on January 5th and 6th.
